Let me paint a picture for you :
It’s night time, slightly dewy, big bright moon up above, and your hyping yourself up to race your bike. You’re in a line with a bunch of other crazy people about to race bikes and you’re dressed up in your Halloween costume..
The race begins in a slight downhill while curving to the left. You’re high above the 163 and there is an amazing panoramic view of downtown San Diego is off in the distance to your right. After you make it around the first turn, you keep curving around the museum then slightly up hill before riding through the lobby of the Starlight Musical Theatre. To make it out of the box office area there is a sharp S curve before getting out to the free and open parking lot. Once in the parking lot, the only flat and kinda straight section of the course, you can gain a lot of speed. You’ll turn to the left and then circle back to the start / finish.
That’s one lap. The race is two laps.
There will be one task you have to complete though at some point during your race.
You must complete your task before you can cross the finish line. Everyone will have some version of the same task and you can complete your task on either your first or your second lap; your call.
The task is very very simple I swear.
Speed isn’t necessarily what is going to win this race. How quick you complete your task and what lap you choose to try to complete it on will be huge. Also, how well you maneuver through the Starlight Musical Theatre Box Office area will be important.

GUIDELINES / INFO :
HELMET REQUIRED – This could get gnarly so BE SAFE.
HEADLIGHT AND A BRAKE ARE INCREDIBLY RECOMMENDED.
$5 RACE ENTRY FEE – Pot will be determined by how many enter.
TOP THREE FINISHERS get CASH PRIZES. No product prizes.
If you’re not racing, of course you don’t have to pay $5. The fee is simply so racers have an incentive to actually try and win. Depending on how many enter, the pot could get pretty $$$. Please ‘scout’ the track. We want you to feel comfortable on the course and highly recommend that you go ride the course before race day or get there early to ensure a few warmup laps.
ANYONE AND ANYBIKE IS WELCOME TO RACE!
Money is at stake but let’s keep this FUN AND SAFE.
FUN AND SAFE AND FUN AND SAFE AND FUN AND SAFE AND FUN AND SAFE.
after the race.. THE BIKE SCAVENGER HUNT :
Eddie Kon is in charge of this and I don’t have all the info right now. As soon as I get it from him, I’ll let ya know.
All I know so far is :
You’ll have to ride to 13 checkpoints scattered through out Balboa Park.
Each check point will have a corresponding task / riddle.
One hour time limit causeee..
Once the scavenger hunt is done, we’ll all ride up to 35th and University for an after/house/halloween party. Apparently, the house we’re going to, and the neighboring houses are having like just one big ass Halloween party. Nate, the homie, says that the next door neighbors themselves are expecting close to 200 people.
This is going to be a wild night and you’re gonna be bummed if you miss it. Calling it now.
SPREAD THE WORD!
