^ The East Village Bike Affair ( #EVBIKDESD ) started off with a group ride around downtown on Deco Bikes! Deco Bikes is the first ever bike share program implemented in San Diego.
^ The weather was PERFECT for our morning ride. Crystal clear sunny skies, 80 degrees and on Valentine’s Day. Only in San Diego right?
^ The ride led us all around downtown. This is us shredding past the library.
^ Passing Fire Station No 4.
^ The person driving this car TOTALLY ruined our shot!
^ Getting on the bike path.
^ Everyone rode with great etiquette, staying in one lane and stopping at lights.
^ Group shot!
^ Heading back.
^ Acamonchi getting wild!
^ E Street.
^ The pack arriving back at the East Village Bike Affair.
^ Famoso was slinging epic food!
^ The East Village Bike Affair was held in a warehouse space on 14th and F. When you walked in, you were welcomed with this mural by local artist Acamonchi.
^ Acamonchi and his work.
^ Close up. Can you spot the little AWLF on one of the flyers? (Acamonchi actually has an AWLF tattoo too!)
^ The warehouse space was temporarily turned in to a vendor space.
^ DJ Pokkey kept the party rockin!
^ Super rad, laser cut howling wolf necklace by Frickin Lazer Beams.
^ Downtown Ace Hardware was spinning wheels and handing out prizes.
^ Deco Bike! So excited they’re here!
^ Stoked to see Leader at a San Diego “community” event.
^ East Village – Opoly?!
^ An East Village proposed landmark sign.
San Diego has so much to offer and East Village is full of opportunity.
Having lived the past 8 years in Downtown San Diego / East Village, I see the area’s potential. Vacant warehouses, mixed with early 1900’s architecture, provide a canvas ready for renovation and a new generation of growth.
The East Village Bike Affair was the first, of hopefully many, community building – cycling events in Downtown San Diego. The goal is to promote East Village / Downtown as a livable area. It’s got a ways to go, but it’s got nowhere to go but UP from here on out.
Thanks everyone who came out and thanks East Village Association for hosting!
