My cheeks are SO sore from smiling all day.
I’ll do my best to show you just how fun the day was but these photos don’t do Tour de Fat justice. Evvvverywhere I looked, I wanted to take a photo. The costumes, the games, the acts – absolutely one of the funnest days I’ve ever lived.
Tour de Fat 2015 started off with a small ceremony and then a mellow bike parade around town :
^ Todd Gloria presented TDF’s head honcho with a plaque and proclaimed September 26th, 2015, “Tour de Fat Day” in San Diego.
Once the parade arrived back at Golden Hill Park, the party began.
Here’s a bunch of random photos from walking around TDF :
THE SLOW RACE :
Six heats of six racers going as slow as possible. Last one across the line wins.
^ Defending champ.
^ Winner of the first heat.
^ The Slow Race Winner!
JENGA! : ***
THE 1000 PERSON DANCE OFF :
They pumped the music, told evvvveryone to dance, and then picked a few dancers to come up on stage. This dude blew everyone’s mind and for that, won a bike!
^ Maria here traded her CAR for a BIKE!
This guy puts on ssssuch a fun show! Just look :
(And yes he was wearing TWO tracksuits.)
Sssso good. And YES he’s on Spotify!
REGGIE WATTS :
The headliner, Reggie Watts, shut TDF down with his comedy infused, beatbox filled, tunes.
^ This guy SIGNED everything evvvvery act SAID. What a guy. What a job. That’s got to be exhausting.
And that was Tour de Fat San Diego.
With out a doubt, one of the funnest days I’ve ever lived.
The best thing is, New Belgium has raised more than 3 MILLION dollars and all the funds raised from this event go to the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition.
